PTA Block Mobile: How To Block Stolen or Snatched Mobiles?

The number of thefts and robberies has only increased in the past times. Nowadays, the main targets of robbers and thieves are Cell Phones. Because it’s straightforward to generate a hefty amount by stealing cell phones.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has recently launched a new system to avoid these problems. Through this new system, you will be able to block your lost or stolen mobile phones by just lodging a simple complaint. 

Then, the stolen mobile will not be able to operate a SIM in it. Hence, when someone tries to sell it, the buyer will immediately know that this mobile is blocked and he will refuse to buy it.

Also, you will be safe from any criminal activity being done using your registered mobile phone.

So, let’s get started and learn how to block stolen or snatched mobiles.

New System Launched by PTA to Block Stolen or Snatched Mobiles

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority launched an automated system and named it Lost and Stolen Device System (LSDS), to block stolen, snatched, or lost mobile devices.

The new system will provide feasibility to the customers if they want to block their snatched, stolen, or lost mobile devices. The users can easily block their devices by just lodging a complaint to PTA about their device’s IMEI. This will help them stop criminals from misusing their snatched mobile phones.

LSDS is an automatic system and it is integrated with DIRBS (Device Identification Registration and Blocking System). This system will block the stolen or snatched mobiles within 24 hours of lodging the complaints.

The complainants will need to lodge a complaint on the Complaint Management System of PTA in order to block their stolen or snatched mobiles. The complaint will be based on the IMEI of your stolen or snatched mobiles.

What is the IMEI Number of Your Mobile?

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity, and as the name suggests, this is the unique ID of only one mobile in the world. When the companies manufacture mobiles, they allot a unique ID to each phone. So that it is impossible for two mobiles to have the same IMEI Number.

Hence, with the help of the IMEI Number, it becomes easier for the PTA to block the exact lost, stolen, or snatched mobile. While avoiding the chance of blocking some other phone.

How Do I Find Out My IMEI Number?

There are two ways to find out your IMEI Number.

  • Dial *#06# from your mobile and IMEI will appear.
  • Find out the IMEI on your Mobile’s Box

PTA Block Mobile: How to block stolen or snatched mobiles?

The procedure of blocking stolen or snatched mobiles is very easy. Just follow the given steps and you will block your stolen device in just a few minutes.

  • First, visit the online complaint portal of PTA.
  • Then, in section 1, provide all the personal details. These include Name, CNIC, Email Address, Incident City, etc.
  • Once done with the personal details, head towards the Complaint Details.
  • First, tick marks the “Stolen Mobile Handsets / IMEI Related Complaint” among all the tick mark options.
  • Then, against the “Request Nature/Type”, select “Blocking”.
  • After that, write a brief summary of the incident in the Complaint Summary section.
  • Then, Provide at least 1 IMEI of the stolen or snatched mobile.
  • After that, enter the last mobile number in the stolen handset.
  • Then, provide the other details including Brand, Color, Model, Reason for Blocking, Incident Date, and Whether you informed to Police or Not.
  • Lastly, enter the OTP received on the provided Last Number in the Handset.
  • Tick Mark “I have acknowledged….” and Register Complaint.
