National Database and Registry Authority (NADRA) has started a campaign to prevent the forgery of ID cards. In this campaign, NADRA has set up a verification process that allows you to check their family trees through just one text message!

This system helps the citizens identify unrelated people and aids in reducing the forgery of ID cards. But it is very beneficial for people like you who want to check their family trees!

How To Check Your Family Tree?

To check your family tree, simply send your CNIC number as a text message on 8009. And voila! You will get an auto-generated text with all the CNIC numbers and names of people registered under your family. Reply with ‘2’ if you’re satisfied with the family tree.

This is an effortless process and takes even less than a minute. This also allows you to check if someone else is registered as your family member on NADRA.

Please note that you can only send the text message through the number registered under the CNIC in the text. In case you use a number registered under any other CNIC, NADRA will not verify it is you and you will not receive the message.

Another way to check your family tree is through an online verification system, but it is long and time-consuming. For that, you must have an account on the NADRA website.

You need to add the names and CNIC numbers of all your family members. In case someone else is registered under your family, the website will show a red error saying, “You have not provided the information for all your family members. Your family has more members as per our record. Please provide information for all your family members”.

Some Stranger is Registered in your family?

If you find out someone else is registered under your family during text verification, it is advised to reply with ‘1’. This will alert NADRA and they will remove the stranger from your family tree.

In the case of online verification, there is no way to alert NADRA on the spot. To remove the person, you will have to visit the nearest NADRA office and give an application for the removal of that person.
